What is an Airport Terminal?

An Airport Terminal is the building (or buildings)
used by airlines for passengers to get on or off of airplanes. Some airports have one single terminal, but many of the larger ones have several that are connected and represented by each airline that occupies them. The area of the terminal used for boarding the airplane is usually known as “gates,” or sometimes called “concourses.”


Other acitivities that are often conducted in an Airport Terminal envolve purchasing plane tickets and picking up boarding passes. They can check-in, transfer, or pickup luggage after a flight. Several of the larger airports also have numerous shops, eateries, and other amenities available in their terminals. Airport Terminal ammenities are quickly becoming an important standard with the wait times and delays associated with busy travel. Some terminals even have hotels or clubs located in them.
